Birth Doula Support

across Wellington and nearby areas

Grounded, warm, embodied support so you can feel calm, connected, and empowered throughout your journey.

As a prenatal yoga and movement specialist, I bring more than just presence to your birth. I bring the insight gained from supporting hundreds of pregnant people, along with a deep understanding of birth preparation and how the body and nervous system work during labour. My approach blends breath, movement, evidence-based guidance, and hands-on techniques, supporting both you and your birth partner to feel informed, connected, and confident as you prepare for birth and navigate your experience. I can also offer support in Mandarin and Cantonese (普通话 / 廣東話).

This support is valuable regardless of how your birth unfolds, including induction or caesarean birth, as the tools around breath, movement, and nervous system regulation can support calm, confidence, and recovery in any birth experience.

Each birth doula support package includes the following:

1. Antenatal Prep

Throughout our antenatal sessions, we will explore how I can best support you alongside your birth partner and care provider as a team. We can also explore anything you or your birth partner feel is important as you prepare for your birth experience.

See below for more details on each package.

2. Birth Support

I will be on call from 38 weeks, providing emotional support, comfort measures and effective hands-on tools for progress (if needed) – throughout established labour until baby’s arrival.

3. Postpartum Care

We will meet once after birth to reflect, debrief, and check in. I will also offer gentle recovery tools to help you reconnect with your body in the early postpartum weeks.

4. Call & Email Support

I will support you throughout pregnancy and up to 6 weeks postpartum. If anything is on your mind, I am here. Depending on your individual needs and circumstances, we may also arrange 1 or 2 additional video calls before birth for further guidance and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the antenatal sessions?

Each antenatal session is approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours long, allowing plenty of time for discussion, practical tools, and personalised support based on your needs and birth preferences.

What is the Body Ready Method®?

  • The Body Ready Method® is a movement and education system that helps you prepare your body intentionally for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It focuses on alignment, mobility, and balance, especially in the core, upper body, pelvis, and pelvic floor, so your body can move efficiently during birth. As a certified Body Ready Method® Pro, I weave these tools into our sessions to help you feel connected, confident, and physically ready for your birth journey.

What is myofascial release, and how does it help in pregnancy?

Myofascial release is a gentle self-massage technique to ease tension and tightness in your body’s connective tissues (the fascia). During pregnancy, it can relieve common discomforts and bring more balance to your body. I also use it to assess the tension you hold in your body and give you personalised tools to practice at home.

Why are movement techniques important for birth preparation?

Movement isn’t just about fitness, it’s about creating balance, mobility, and connection in your body. Through intentional movement, breathwork, and awareness, you can ease tension, and prepare for a more comfortable birth and smoother recovery.

I’m not very active, is this still right for me?

Absolutely. Everything I offer is adaptable to your body and comfort level. My approach is gentle and supportive, focusing on awareness rather than intensity. Many of the movements can be easily woven into your daily life, helping you move more optimally while naturally preparing for birth and beyond.

What kinds of births do you support?

I support all kinds of births: hospital, home, birthing centre, medicated, unmedicated, VBAC, or planned caesarean. Every birth is unique, and my role is to walk alongside you with calm, grounded support, wherever and however your baby enters the world.

What hands-on tools might you use during birth?

Depending on your needs, I may use hands-on techniques from the Body Ready Method® to encourage progress if labour stalls, or gentle myofascial release to support comfort and relaxation. These tools can help your body work more efficiently and keep you feeling grounded throughout labour.

When should I hire a doula?

It’s never too early to reach out! Many families connect with me in the second trimester so we have plenty of time to build trust, explore movement and mindset tools, and prepare for birth together. However, I sometimes take on clients later in pregnancy if I have space. The earlier you reach out, the more time we will have to tailor our sessions to you and your birth preferences.
